What is Guitar?
Played solo or as part of the rhythms section, this plucked instrument generally has 6 strings. The sound is produced acoustically, because of sound vibrations in the hollow wooden body or with the use of an electric amplifier.
Learning Guitar At Sriguruji
The Learning Journey
Students at Sriguruji Art Academy are first taught to read and write music notations. Learning to read and play music notation is similar to the process of learning a foreign language.
Beginners learn basic chords with open strings and fretted notes together. Basic strumming techniques and scales which improve finger dexterity, control and speed are taught.
Intermediate students learn concepts about chords, scales, arpeggios, progressions and put them into use in songs ensuring rhythmic accuracy.
Advanced techniques taught like harmonising the riffs and solos, hybrid picking, counterpoints which add an extra dimension to the melody.
The Academy conducts yearly Internal Assessments followed by a Parent Teacher meeting to share the student’s learning curve. Sriguruji students undergo systematic practical and conceptual training and are encouraged to appear for Trinity College of London Exams. These exams are optional. Over 30 students take these exams every December.
